There is a lot happening in the European customs landscape. New figures and new regulations show how important correct declarations and transparency will become in the coming years.
The recent figures shared by Comeos, which indicate that of the 1.3 billion declarations, at least 30% were found to be violations, again show that the European trade chain has been struggling for years with challenges regarding undervaluation, correct declarations, and a level playing field. Part of this problem is particularly situated in the flood of small e-commerce shipments from outside the EU, often undervalued or split to remain below threshold values.
